Budapest, Hungary (November 10, 2017) – zLense, a global broadcast and production technology innovator and NAC a distributor of cine and broadcast equipment in Japan with a history are demonstrating the new innovative zKey™ 3D Greenless Keying System at Inter BEE 2017 (booth 6403) in Tokyo, Japan. Unlike traditional keying systems, zKey™ uses depth information to separate the foreground talent from the background, creating an alpha channel in real time without the need for green screens, special lighting or other limitations.
“With our zKey 3D Keying System, we are opening new possibilities for creative flexibility in live news and sports broadcasting, presentation, video blogging after the successful introduction at NAB and IBC earlier this year,” said Dr Ferenc Birloni, CTO of Zinemath. “The zKey™ system allows for adding CGI layers between the foreground and background in real time – a process that has been impossible without a green screen until now. Because no special backgrounds or lighting are required, this capability can revolutionize the creative potential of live productions while also speeding up and simplifying content creation. This has been proven at one of the most prestigious sports event in September”
The zKey™ Greenless Keying System enhances an existing studio camera with the system’s depth camera attachment and will be available in two versions: one is optimized for presentation purposes and small body camera and another optimized for broadcast box cameras and ENG/EFP zoom lenses. Both content streams (full HD video and depth image) are transmitted to the zKey™ appliance that outputs the alpha channel or can provide internal real-time compositing. The system is ideal for a wide range of augmented reality (AR) applications.
