The new Flare 2KSDI-ENR is a major upgrade for IO Industries’ existing HD/2K mini camera, and offers significant improvement in image quality over the original 2KSDI as well as some additional output formats.
The compact camera, which is typically used for PoV or in-car applications, weighs just 310g, takes a variety of different lens mounts, and can output full 2K Raw for digital cinema or 422 for live broadcast. It also gains new RGB 4:4:4 output modes in 1080p and 2K.
Other improvements include: lower noise from CFPN, RFPN, and PRNU; complete removal of a ‘black sun’ artefact, which caused the centre of a bright light or the sun to appear black; a higher range of analogue gain adjustment; and automatic black clamp on each frame.
The 2KSDI-ENR kit includes a Power/Control Cable (with control Lemo, and power tap) an AC adaptor (with power tap connector), a handheld remote, and a USB Control Cable (for camera control and to update the firmware and look up tables from a PC).
The Multi-Faceted Mini-cam
The 2KSDI-ENR is built to be completely flexible, yet small enough to fit into a range of specialty applications for both broadcast and cinema. The camera is built on IO Industries’ years of experience with industrial cameras, yet packs in the flexible color processing and optics support required by video professionals.
Small Size, Huge Potential
Weighing in at 310g, the 2KSDI-ENR is no larger than an average apple. With its’ solid aluminum housing and flexible lensing options, the 2KSDI-ENR quickly becomes known as “the tough little camera that could” on most shoots. Though some professional mini-cams require a separate camera control unit, all of the 2KSDI-ENR’s functions can be set directly on the camera head.
So Many Modes!
The 2KSDI-ENR can travel where other cameras can’t, yet it can also speak the language when it gets there. The camera can be configured in full 2K RAW for digitial cinema one day, then 422 interlaced for live broadcast the next. All of this is configured from an easy to use on-screen display with the small handheld remote, or by attaching an RS485 cable for long distance control.
Fills the Gap in Your RAW Workflow
With so many productions shooting RAW video, it is great to have the ability to keep the same workflow for every camera on the shoot. Keep your same RAW workflow, but with use of a small camera!
